More than a dozen charges are currently pending against a Rhode Island man who was shot by police and suffered serious injuries.
Three counts of attempted aggravated murder, three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon have been brought against Hopkinton resident Brenden Sackal, 30, according to the Vermont State Police.
In addition, Sackal faces a number of other allegations, such as operating in a grossly negligent manner and making an attempt to avoid authorities.
As of Tuesday afternoon, according to police, Sackal’s condition at Dartmouth Hitchock Medical Center is still critical but stable.

He opened fire on two Vermont State Troopers on Route 114 in Burke on Sunday night, and they returned fire, wounding him many times.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Caledonia County judge issued an arrest warrant for the accusations. Sackal was arrested in New Hampshire, and it is anticipated that he will be extradited to Vermont.
While their investigation is ongoing, Vermont State Police identified the troopers who shot Sackal earlier on Tuesday.
