A Waterford man was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle in Groton on Sunday night when he was taken into custody on larceny charges. A red Jeep Cherokee that was parked on Providence Court in the Poquonnock Bridge neighborhood of the town was reported as suspicious by the police around 11:30 p.m.
After leaving the location and heading west on Poquonnock Road, an officer who had responded to the scene saw a car that fit the description.
After the Jeep made multiple turns and the police followed it, it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from New London when the officer looked up the license plate.
As the Jeep pulled into the Branford Manor housing complex, it was stopped, and the driver—the only person inside—was taken into custody. The person identified as him was Waterford resident Coyt M. Taylor, 21.
Taylor allegedly refused to submit to fingerprints throughout the booking process and was uncooperative. Two outstanding arrest warrants for probation violations were also discovered to be issued for him by Stonington and New London.
