WPBN: With another reinforcing blast of cold air expected to arrive on Thursday, frigid air is still trapped in the Northeast. With blustery winds, sporadic showers, and light snow behind it, this one is going to be a major wind-maker.
Through the weekend, we’ll continue to have chilly to cold weather, which might help prepare the ground for our next storm system to bring with it some freezing rain and/or snow somewhere between Monday and Tuesday.
In other places, unusually cold air has persisted and even descended into the Southeast.
Parts of Georgia and Florida are predicted to experience heavy frost and freeze conditions once more tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow.
Subfreezing temperatures appear to be mostly affecting south-central Florida, Georgia, and portions of north Florida. Friday’s temperatures are probably going to change, and the weekend will be much milder.
Meanwhile, as some Gulf of Mexico energy makes its way ashore, we are seeing some much-needed rain spreading throughout the southernmost part of Texas. Watch for thunderstorms and sporadic, intense showers to move across the region before the weather gradually shifts to the northeast and north.
As that energy is pushed back towards the Gulf Coast, we’ll see thunderstorms and heavy showers form in places like Houston and Dallas during the next few days, then move into Louisiana and Mississippi.
There may be an isolated severe weather component to this on Wednesday and tomorrow. Keep an eye out for the possibility of hail, lightning, torrential rain, and gusts that could cause damage locally. Along coastal parts, we could also observe a rise in the likelihood of waterspouts.

Today is still sunny and cold, but the winds are less strong. Try to find highs in your upper 30s. Tomorrow will bring additional sunlight and temperatures close to 40 degrees.
Later on Wednesday, there will be more clouds, but not before some early sunshine and highs close to 40 once more.
Ahead of our next system, the mid-40s stop by, and as blustery winds build, the temperature drops throughout Thursday. The majority of the action appears to be inland, however there will be sporadic showers.
With highs in the mid-30s at most, Friday is predicted to be windy and frigid.
Later on Saturday, a weak disturbance is expected to pass over, with the possibility of a few isolated snowflakes starting in the afternoon. The highs will range from the upper 30s to over 40.
With a consistent breeze, sunshine, and highs close to 40 degrees, Sunday looks to be a cool day.
