13-Year-Old Florida Boy's Shocking 911 Confession to Mother's Murder

A 13-year-old boy from Florida has been charged with first-degree murder after admitting to killing his mother, Irene Garcia, while she was asleep next to her newborn daughter.

This tragic event occurred on October 12 in their Hialeah, Florida home.

The young suspect, Derek Rosa, stunned both authorities and the community when he dialed 911 to confess to this terrible crime.

In the 18-minute call, he disclosed that he had taken pictures of his mother’s lifeless body and shared them with his friends.

Rosa told the 911 dispatcher that, “I took pictures and I told my friends about it. Is that bad?”

The call also provided disturbing information about the crime scene, with Rosa purportedly stating, “Is she dead, Miss? There’s blood everywhere on the floor.” The call ended when the police reached his residence.

Reports suggest that Derek Rosa, who will face trial as an adult, was absent from his initial court hearing.

The father and paternal grandmother of the boy attended the juvenile court on his behalf, showing surprise and sadness about the tragic incident. “It’s very unfortunate that this tragedy occurred, but this child is very humble, very peaceful, and no one could imagine that this would ever happen,” said Derek’s dad, Jose Rosa, at the trial.

Derek Rosa is currently being held without bail and has been moved to the Metro West Detention Center. He is currently detained at the Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation facility.

The community is still trying to come to terms with the shocking events, and authorities are working tirelessly to unravel the details of this tragic case.
