In relation to a bar fire at the Squealing Pig in Boston’s Mission Hill area, a man has been taken into custody.
It is alleged that Everett resident Prasshida Baruwal, 23, set the pub on fire early on Tuesday. He faces charges including fire, damaging personal property, breaking and entering at night to conduct a felony, and more.
“I thought it was by accident,” Diamond Nichols, a Boston neighbor, recalls. “Honestly, it does make me a little nervous.”

According to police, witnesses saw the guy outside the bar shattering glass and filming Baruwal in his black attire. Before the pub caught fire, a witness saw the suspect dumping what they believed to be a lighted napkin, and surveillance footage verified the incident.
The pub suffered significant damage and multiple surrounding cars were melted before the Boston Fire Department managed to put out the fire.
“That’s scary. That is scary,” Cameron Kuck said.

Numerous off-campus college students reside in the region
According to Kuck, a student at Berklee College of Music, “There are people walking around right next to and around the restaurant, so that is scary. Someone is doing something super illegal, very dangerous, and if someone gets hurt, that’s totally like a federal thing, a crime.”
The fact that their favorite tavern is closing for the summer has shocked and upset the neighbors.
“We were just talking about crime in the city. It’s all around us but obviously puts it into more perspective when it’s next door to you,” Northeastern college student Sydney Brikhahn said.
The event is still being looked into by the police.
