Following information about “disturbing messages that were shared in a group chat,” the Denver Police Department launched an investigation into the officers in April. Rodrigo Basurto, Meagan Joy, and Scot Persichette are the cops in question, according to a spokesperson.

Refugees and migrants might find temporary accommodation at a newcomer shelter.

The cops were let go last month following a thorough inquiry. As necessary, the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training unit was notified of their terminations.

The statements, according to the police department, “are contradictory to the mission and values of the Department, and disrespect not only newcomers and our community, but also every other officer working to keep everyone in our community safe.” The department expressed its shock at the messages.

A police official stated that the communications were sent on March 27. Someone else in the group conversation informed the police department about them.

According to the police agency, Basurto, Joy, and Persichette all attended the training academy together and were currently on probation.

Basurto said he would not comment. The phone numbers given for Persichette and Joy on Thursday were unresponsive.
