A father in Florida was declared guilty on Thursday of child abuse and related offenses. He had confined his adopted son in a room that resembled a prison, which he had hired a contractor to construct in their garage.
Occasionally, he would drop in food and provide a bucket for a restroom.
Timothy Ferriter, 48, was found guilty of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, and neglect of a child for the severe mistreatment of the boy.
The jury in Palm Beach County deliberated for a total of two hours and 33 minutes before coming to a decision that was unanimously in favor of all of the charges.
On February 8, 2022, the guy who was later held accountable for his acts was initially detained on allegations of wrongful detention and the mistreatment of a child. Since then, he has been criticized for his activities.
His wife, Tracy Ferriter, 48, was also charged at the same time. Their trials were separated at the request of the husband’s defense attorney, who argued that the wife had given inconsistent statements during the investigation.
