ORLANDO, Fla. — Friday, there was a report of a shooting at an Orlando crossing, so deputies were sent there.
At 11:30 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a shooting on London Crest Drive. When they got there, they found two women, one in her 20s and the other in her 30s, who had been shot.
They were both taken to the hospital, but their injuries killed them both there.
Investigators with the Orange County sheriff’s office have now taken someone into custody after the double shooting that killed two women.
Around 3:30 p.m., more police officers showed up at the Lake Sherwood Apartments on Apopka Vineland Road.
It looked like they were helping the police with work that was going on away from the white car, which had been searched for hours.
The white car wasn’t checked for evidence while the people who work at crime scenes hid between police cars.
We heard loud screams coming from inside the complex and saw armed police officers go into one of the units.
A few minutes later, a man and a boy were taken out of the room.
At this point, we don’t know how the man and child fit into the story.
Mireilae Thompson-Blain, a local neighbor, said, “I’m sorry about what happened.”
The people who lived in the complex had to leave while the cops worked out how to get into the apartments.
People are tired of the violence that keeps happening.
Thompson-Blain said, “It’s very scary, it’s very scary, and it’s a shame to hear that because that shouldn’t happen.”
“It breaks my heart when anyone dies,” said Linda Logan, a friend.
After a shooting happened Friday at the Lake Sherwood Apartments, the people who lived there had to wait outside for hours.
“A lot of young people are dying over things that make no sense,” Logan said.
“Just being there when people are going through hard times is the most important thing to me,” said Orange County Commissioner Mike Scott.
Scott stopped by to see how people in his area were doing because of this.
“I grew up here, so being a good neighbor and part of the community is the most important thing to me,” Scott said. “Anyone can do that, with or without a title.” “We put up a survey to find out what people want or what they think are the best ways to stop gun violence.”
People are sick and tired of all the violence.
“I don’t want to be caught in the crossfire,” Logan said. “There was and is too much going on around here, so it’s time for me to leave.”
We’re still waiting to find out what led to the killing and how the victims knew the person who is now in custody.
After the car was checked out on the scene, it was taken away so that more evidence-gathering work could be done.
