After striking it rich and winning a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s GOLD RUSH LIMITED scratch-off game, an Orange County woman is now a millionaire.
After buying his ticket at Circle K, which is situated at 7530 Forest City Road, Frieda Reyes Ortiz, of Orlando, claimed the $1 million win.
The 68-year-old decided to take his winnings as a $795,000 lump sum payout all at once. A $2,000 additional commission was given to the retailer that sold the winning ticket.
There are 32 $5 million top prizes and 100 $1 million prizes in the $20 game. There are also more than 33,000 prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 on extra tickets.
74% of ticket sales in the fiscal year 2023–2024 were from scratch-off games.
Since they were first introduced, scratch-off games have produced 2,175 millionaires, more than $63.1 billion in prize money, and more than $19.24 billion for the Education Enhancement Trust Fund.

Through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, the Florida Lottery has contributed over $46 billion to educational enhancement and has funded the college education of over 983,000 students.
According to lottery authorities, almost 4,000 people have become millionaires and more than $95.7 billion in rewards have been awarded through Florida Lottery games since 1988.
