ORLANDO, Fla. — A shooting occurred at an apartment complex in Orange County early Thursday morning, resulting in the death of one individual.
The incident took place at the Palmetto at Lakeside apartments on Rio Grande Avenue near Holden Avenue, prompting a response from Orange County fire officials around 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a man in his 30s who had been shot and was pronounced dead. The deceased individual was identified as Jamel Tyrone Brown, aged 34.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that a suspect was believed to have fled the scene, but no further details are available at this time.
Law enforcement deputies quickly secured the area, establishing a perimeter with crime scene tape to commence the investigation.
Throughout the morning, residents of the apartment complex awoke and gathered outside to witness the unfolding scene.
Johnny G, one of the residents, expressed his surprise, stating, “I saw this and couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What is happening?'”
Another resident, Asa Bracy, shared her concerns about the frequency of crime scenes in the area and expressed her intention to take action once her lease expires.
