Florida in Crisis: Over 500,000 Gallons of Fuel Rushed to South Florida!

Florida in Crisis Over 500,000 Gallons of Fuel Rushed to South Florida!

The Florida Division of Emergency Management said Tuesday that more than 500,000 gallons of fuel have been sent to South Florida to make up for the lack of gas at stations caused by the flooding at Port Everglades last week.

GasBuddy’s gas map shows that as of Wednesday morning, nearly 58% of gas stations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties were out of gas. Nearly 33% of gas stores in the West Palm Beach area were out of gas.

Since Friday, Florida’s emergency response team has been moving fuel from Port Canaveral and Tampa while Port Everglades works to drain fuel racks that were flooded by the record rainfall in Fort Lauderdale and other parts of Broward County.

Law enforcement was following the fuel trucks to speed up delivery.

As of Wednesday morning, nine of the 12 gas stations at Port Everglades were running.

Officials in Broward County said they think lines at the gas pumps will get shorter as long as fuel trucks keep delivering to gas stations.
