In-Flight Confrontation Leads to Emergency Landing in Orlando

A JetBlue Airways flight heading to Boston had to stop in Orlando, Florida on Thursday night because two passengers got into a fight. This was confirmed in a statement by an airline spokesperson.

The incident occurred on JetBlue flight 170 on Thursday night.

The plane took off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) at 9:57 p.m. and was diverted to Orlando International Airport (MCO) shortly before midnight, according to FlightAware’s website.

Law enforcement, including Orlando police, removed two passengers from the plane, but their names were not released, and no one was arrested, according to the police.

The flight later departed from Orlando and continued to Boston. An Orlando Police Department spokesperson mentioned that one of the passengers was intoxicated and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A video taken on the flight after landing in Orlando and shared with FOX 35 Orlando shows law enforcement escorting someone off the plane while plane employees and other officials stand near the flight attendant galley.

The plane’s captain later made an announcement, informing passengers that they had to divert to Orlando due to a “very violent” passenger who had attacked another passenger.

The captain mentioned that they would likely need to deplane, refuel, and wait for a replacement co-pilot before continuing on to Boston.
