A 15-year-old then shot a 38-year-old Brazilian woman who was visiting New York when he accidentally shot the security guard with a.45-caliber revolver, according to the police.
Shot slightly above the left knee, the woman took refuge in a storage area until being transported to a hospital where her condition was deemed stable, according to authorities. Following treatment, she was freed, according to the police.
The suspect, who fired two rounds at a pursuing officer “without a single thought of who he might hit or who he might kill,” fled a few blocks away, according to NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, who made the announcement of the shooter’s arrest during a press conference on Friday.
An attack on a cop is an attack on all of us! Take a good look at this wanted flyer. This coward shot at a hard working, innocent New Yorker and then opened fire on one of our officers. Those cops did what we all expect them to do — they went toward the danger. This individual… pic.twitter.com/YKBb6UJJSa

“Considering where the shootings took place, it’s an actual miracle that we’re not having a very different conversation right now,” Caban stated.
Because of the large number of people in the area, the officer was not struck and did not return fire, according to the police. According to police, the guy then rushed onto the tracks at a subway station after leaving his shoes and jacket behind.
Subsequently, he fled the subway and remained unaccounted for for about twenty-four hours until his capture.
According to authorities, the identification of the accused gunman was made possible by “pristine” images of the suspects that were made public.
“An attack on a cop is an attack on all of us!” Kaz Daughtry, a deputy commissioner of the NYPD, tweeted.
At a press conference on Friday, police stated that the 16-year-old boy who was with the gunman at the clothes store is in custody and that authorities are trying to figure out his involvement.
Police say the 15-year-old who refrained from firing the gun at the store was questioned by detectives before being let go. They all three attend the same school.
Along with the Midtown Manhattan “shots fired” event on January 27, there are further armed robberies in the Bronx that the gunman is suspected of. According to the police, the suspect is from Venezuela and came to the United States in September.
