Maryland Father Shoots 4-year-old Son in Head After He Orders Him to Leave Room During Quarrel With Mother

WPBN: On Christmas Eve, a father from Maryland is suspected of shooting his 4-year-old kid in the head after the boy begged him to leave his mother’s bedroom after a fight.

In a GoFundMe description, victim Jacobi Jones’ mother, Promyss Marcelle, states, “I wouldn’t wish the suffering and pain I experience on my worst enemy.” “The most intolerable thing I have ever had to deal with is grieving the loss of my son.”

According to Baltimore County Police Department officials, Mark Jones, 30, killed the young child inside the family’s Rosedale home during a “domestic-related assault.” According to investigators, he also made several attempts to kill himself but was able to escape, and he shot Marcelle and her other kid, a one-year-old daughter, several times.

“On Christmas Eve at 6:30am myself, my one and only son, and my daughter were shot by the hands of their father,” Marcelle stated on GoFundMe. “I was shot in my head and am fortunate enough to be here to tell this story so is my 1yr old daughter who was shot in her shoulder. Unfortunately, my son who was shot in the head did not make it.”

Marcelle told WBAL that Jacobi was eager to open his Christmas presents before he passed away.

Marcelle recounted, “I would tell him you’ve got to wait till Christmas because he kept trying to open the presents.” “And he was never able to open those gifts.”

Charged with first-degree murder, Jones allegedly attacked his son and family inside Marcelle’s bedroom that morning after arguing with her, according to charging documents obtained by WMAR. According to authorities, Jacobi Jones allegedly begged his father to leave the room during the altercation, which caused him to pull out a firearm and start shooting at him.

“At approximately 6:35 a.m., officers responded to the unit block of Breslin Court, 21237, for reports of a shooting,” BCPD officials stated in a press release. “Once on scene, officers located an adult female along with two juveniles suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. Medics transported the three victims to an area hospital, where one juvenile was pronounced deceased.”

After the shooting, Marcelle disclosed to the local news outlets that she and Mark Jones had been experiencing a significant amount of domestic abuse because of their relationship.

The documents that were obtained by WMAR from the court show that Jones was previously charged with assault with a firearm in the month of May 2023. He entered a guilty plea to the charge of assault in the second degree and was sentenced to probation prior to his verdict.

According to the police, a temporary restraining order was obtained against Mark Jones for domestic violence in January 2023. However, the charge against Jones was dropped several days later for reasons that are unknown.

“Even if you’re quote-unquote lonely, or you want to make your family, because some people don’t grow up with moms and dads, so they want to give their kid what they didn’t have, but it’s not worth it,” Marcelle stated. “I know it’s [easier] said, because anybody can say, ‘Hey, leave,’ you know, but you leave when you’re ready. But take my story, now that I was forced to leave, basically, I don’t have my son.”

In addition to being charged with murder, Mark Jones is also facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault, and child abuse on two separate occasions. Without any form of bond, he is being kept.
