Sort of, Taylor Swift is coming to the University of South Florida. “Are You Ready for It?”
After the publication of her album “Midnights” in 2022, which won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, the global pop sensation has been unstoppable for the previous two years.
With the announcement of her worldwide “Eras Tour,” Swift’s fan base grew to unprecedented heights. In addition, her friendship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the winner of the Super Bowl, is another topic of conversation.
Along with her recent achievements, Swift made history earlier this month when she was listed as the “first musician to reach the milestone solely from songwriting and performing” on Forbes’ billionaires list. This was an uncommon accomplishment for the singer.
But if you’re a Swiftie, or admirer of the artist, you know that she has accomplished much more, and colleges are beginning to recognize the influence the “Cruel Summer” singer is making on society and the classroom.

Colleges are starting to offer courses that analyze Swift’s commercial tactics, cultural and economic influence, and sophisticated songwriting as she continues to rule the radio.
The most recent addition to the increasing list of Florida universities offering a Swift course is USF, which announced on Monday.
English instructors Jessica Cook, Emily Jones, and Michelle Taylor will work together to teach three Swift-themed sections of LIT3301 this autumn, according to The Oracle, the student publication at USF.
Throughout the course, students will meet twice a week to have conversations on Swift’s influence on music and fan culture. Additionally, the focus of the lectures will be on contrasting her with “literary influences,” such as Lord Byron, Emily Dickinson, and Shakespeare.
A study of American and international cultures as they are portrayed in literature, film, and other cultural artifacts of diverse ethnic groups and nationalities, the course “focuses on values/ethics, race, ethnicity, and gender; thinking and writing skills,” according to the university’s course inventory.
As long as they have finished English Composition 1 and 2, students from any major are welcome to enroll in the course, according to The Oracle.
Other Sunshine State universities that have used Swift’s music and influence for educational reasons include the University of Florida and the University of Miami in Coral Gables.
The Miami Herald reports that UM’s law school sponsored a seven-week intensive course titled “Intellectual Property Law Through the Lens of Taylor Swift” in addition to a strategic communication course called “Mastermind Taylor Swift Brand.”
