Police in Missouri detained a mother after it was claimed that she had recorded herself smothering her baby boy with a blanket and her hand, telling a friend that it gave her a “adrenaline rush” and made her feel joyful.
Two counts of abuse or neglect of a child, a class D felony, are being filed against Emma Rigdon, 20, according to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The alleged event happened at a house in the 1200 block of Warren Street on April 15.
Authorities claimed that the youngster started crying after Rigdon reportedly smacked and pinched his leg. The boy began to have “difficulty in breathing and to flail his arms and legs” after Rigdon videotaped herself covering his mouth and nose.
Then, according to reports, she texted a buddy about the video, writing, “IDK when I do that I feel happy like adrenaline rush.”
She is then charged with recording a second video in which the boy is shown crying and “vigorously grabbing at the blanket” after she covered his face with a blanket. Authorities claim that Rigdon also sent that footage to a friend.

She is believed to have texted her pal, “I’be stopping right before he dies.”
He was blue the last time. There was another alleged communication that read, “I really want to kill him, but I don’t want to go to jail so.” It’s regrettable. All he will have to do is pay for his own existence.
The boy’s injuries were not fatal, but it’s unclear from the court documents who is currently caring for him. Authorities did not provide a rationale for her claimed attempt to harm the boy either. As proof, they were able to collect the text messages and footage.
After being taken by police to the St. Louis City Justice Center, Rigdon is being held without bond there. This Wednesday is her next court date. The identity of her lawyer was not listed in her court file.
