After claiming to have submitted fraudulent claims and misrepresented herself to obtain more than $17,000 in food stamps, state officials in South Carolina arrested and charged a lady from that state.
Special agents from the Office of Inspector General of the South Carolina Department of Social Services detained York County resident Tricia Ann Ostapowicz, 50, on Wednesday.
She allegedly fraudulently obtained SNAP, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, benefits, according to investigators.
Warrants state that Ostapowicz neglected to disclose her spouse Jacek Ostapowicz’s income from Northeast Transportation Services, LLC between October 8, 2020 and September 26, 2022.
“As a result, the defendant received an overpayment of $17,634 in SNAP benefits which she was not entitled to receive,” the warrant stated.
