Florida “will not comply” with President Joe Biden’s Title IX amendments, according to Governor Ron DeSantis.
The law will protect “LGBTQI+ students by clarifying that Title IXās protections against discrimination based on sex apply to discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity,” according to the U.S. Department of Education.
The governor says he won’t abide by the new rules put in place by the Biden administration in a 37-second video that DeSantis posted to X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter.
“Florida rejects Joe Biden’s attempt to rewrite Title IX,” DeSantis stated. “We will not comply and we will fight back. We are not gonna let Joe Biden try to inject men into women’s activities. We are not gonna let Joe Biden undermine the rights of parents, and we are not gonna let Joe Biden abuse his constitutional authority to try to impose these policies on us here in Florida.”
DeSantis enacted a contentious transgender sports measure in 2021 that forbade transgender female athletes from participating on college and high school women’s sports teams.

Today’s post is probably directed at a particular aspect of the amended regulations that declare that it would be unlawful to block someone from engaging in activities and programs at school that are consistent with their gender identification in violation of Title IX.
In the latter portion of the video, DeSantis declared, “We stand with opportunities, we are not going to let Biden get away with it. We will not comply.”
The Governor did not specify what steps the state will take, but in order to follow through on his announcement, the state attorney general will likely file a lawsuit before the Administration’s revisions to Title IX are set to go into effect in August.
