Over the course of two days in May, ordinary traffic stops turned into drug seizures and arrests for the Arkansas State Police.
According to an ASP representative, the incident started on May 7 at 6:45 p.m. when a trooper stopped a vehicle close to the 99-mile marker on Interstate 40 in Pope County.
Upon searching the vehicle, the troopers discovered five garbage bags containing $9,350 in cash and 120 wrapped one-pound bundles of marijuana.
The car’s driver, Kristi Dortch, 50, of Eureka Springs, California, was transferred to the Pope County Detention Center, according to officials, where she is being charged with possession with intent to supply, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic infractions.
Dortch said to the detectives that she was traveling to Chatanooga, Tennessee, from Eureka Springs, California.
In the second incident, a trooper stopped a motorist during a traffic check at the 172-mile marker on I-40 in Lonoke County at 2:30 p.m. on May 13.

When the vehicle was examined, law enforcement discovered $1,005 in cash and 115 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.
The driver, Shayla Cooper, 41, of Oklahoma City, was brought to the Lonoke Detention Center and is being charged with possession with intent to supply and possession of drug paraphernalia, both felonies.
She disclosed to the investigators that she was traveling by car from Oklahoma City to Atlanta, Georgia.
