According to court filings, a 10-year-old kid was crushed to death by his 340-pound foster mother who sat on top of him after he “acted out.”

Jennifer Wilson, who was arrested in Michigan’s Berrien County, faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison. According to court documents, she told the authorities that she had found Dakota Levi Stevens at a neighbor’s house after he had escaped earlier in the day.

The foster mother said in court documents that Dakota started acting out when they got home, hurling himself on the ground outside her home. She allegedly sat on Dakota while speaking with his caseworker, during which the boy reportedly cried out and finally stopped moving.

Wilson admitted to the police that she thought the youngster was acting until she turned him over and saw that his eyelids were noticeably paler than usual. Investigators were informed by the foster mother that she rested on Dakota for around five minutes.

Wilson tipped the scales at 340 pounds, while Dakota weighed 91 pounds. Just one month before the incident, the youngster had been placed in her care by the Department of youngster Services, according to the Mirror US.

Wilson seemed “visibly distraught” when officers arrived, according to the court document. Dakota had no pulse and had ceased breathing by the time they arrived at the scene.

Two days after being transported to a local hospital, he was removed from life support. The death of Stevens was ruled a homicide by the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office.
