Jefferson County Deputies Arrest Man on Drug Trafficking Charges Following Car Chase

Following a pursuit with officers in Jefferson County on Wednesday, a guy from Bessemer was apprehended on suspicion of drug offenses.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Brant Lamar Robertson, a 37-year-old man, was recently charged with multiple offenses. These include ‘Trafficking Fentanyl,’ ‘Trafficking Heroin,’ ‘Trafficking Methamphetamine,’ ‘Possessing with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine,’ Felony Fleeing and Eluding,’ Certain Persons Forbidden, and more. 

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives from the Jefferson County Vice and Narcotics Unit were in the Pratt City area at 1:42 p.m., following up on narcotics reports.

When detectives tried to pull over a blue Ford Edge for not stopping at a stop sign, they were in a marked vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pursuit started when the driver of the car fled after detectives turned on their emergency lights. At 3100 Ensley 5-Points West Avenue, the driver’s vehicle was involved in an accident with a Citgo.

Following the collision, authorities apprehended the driver, who was subsequently named Robertson. Medical personnel assessed Robertson on the spot and, as a precaution, sent him to the nearest hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators damaged their marked unit during the pursuit after it collided with a gas pump. Although neither detective appeared hurt during the initial assessment by on-site medics, they were both sent to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

The following was reportedly found, according to the sheriff’s office: 48 grams of Heroin, 492 grams of methamphetamine, 18 grams of cocaine, 26 grams of Fentanyl, 18 grams of a mixture of fentanyl and methamphetamine, and a Glock 23.40 mm handgun with one magazine. SOTA Arms SA 15 chambered, with four magazines and one chamber. It was reported that both firearms were stolen. A fanny pack, a backpack, five mobile phones, three digital scales, baggies, and a belt bag.
