Authorities in Sacramento County report that following an early-morning smash and grab at a gun store, dozens of firearms were taken away.

The gun store on Greenback Lane, close to Walnut Avenue, was burglarized, and it was reported to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 3:45 a.m. Through a live camera of the store, the owner claimed to have seen someone running about inside.

Additionally, the owner stated that they saw a shattered glass in the front.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they saw that someone had, in fact, backed a stolen SUV into the storefront, which had let them inside. The sheriff’s office reports that at least 25 firearms were taken.

According to deputies, the SUV was taken from Fair Oaks earlier in the evening. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect (or suspects, as it’s unknown if there were more than one) fled in a different car before deputies arrived.

As they gather evidence, crime scene investigators and other detectives have begun questioning potential witnesses. There is currently no information available regarding the suspect or their getaway car.

Another gun store in Placer County was broken into early on Monday morning by a suspect who was able to burrow into the establishment. It was an instance where up to fifty guns were stolen.

Detectives haven’t said whether the burglaries in Placer and Sacramento counties are connected, though.
