Miami Hit-and-run Collision Escalates Into Police-involved Crash, Officer Sustains Injuries

MIAMI  – During the course of his shift, a police officer of the City of Miami was put in danger as a result of a hit-and-run accident that was followed by another collision.

An officer was injured in a collision that took place near Northwest 58th Street and 17th Avenue in Miami, Florida, at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Units from the Miami Police Department and the Miami Fire Rescue Department went to the scene of the collision.

The neighborhood surrounding Northwest 54th Street and 17th Avenue was the location where the hit-and-run accident took place, as stated by the investigators.

After the first collision, the victim of the hit-and-run accident allegedly began to pursue the other driver, which resulted in the other driver crashing into a police car that was being driven by the Miami Police Department. The victim of the hit-and-run accident was reportedly injured as a result of the collision.

The cop who was involved was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
