MIAMI – On Monday, a hearing was held in bond court in Miami-Dade County for a guy who is suspected of committing a sexual assault in the washroom of a pub in Miami.
According to the documents, the victim was able to identify the offender on Saturday as Luigi Cavani, who worked as a security guard at the pub in Brickell where the assault took place.
On Sunday, members of the police force detained Cavani, 35, in connection with the alleged assault that took place at the Sweet Caroline Karaoke Bar, which is located close to the intersection of Southwest First Avenue and 11 Street.
Cavani was in front of Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer in Miami-Dade County, who issued an injunction for him to maintain his distance from the victim.
The club has issued a post on Instagram saying that the man who was detained was working there on Friday night and that he was an employee of a security business that the bar would no longer be contracting with. The statement was provided by a representative of the bar.
The records show that prior to Cavani working in security at the pub, he had an arrest record both in and outside of the state of Florida.
The county court records reveal that Cavani was detained by Doral police officers on December 31, 2017, for presenting false information to a law enforcement officer while the officer was conducting a traffic stop. Additionally, there was a felony warrant for Cavani’s arrest from another state.
According to the documents, Cavani was arrested on May 22, 2021, in Charleston County, South Carolina, for resisting arrest and for assaulting a police officer. The case was dismissed in February of the following year.
According to the documents, Cavani was arrested in Pinellas County, which is located in west Florida, for possession of synthetic marijuana, which is a restricted substance, even though his home address was located in St. Petersburg.
Cavani is facing a charge of sexual battery in connection with the case in Miami, and the judge has set his bond at $25,000. According to the documents, he spent the evening of Monday in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Judge Ariel Rodriguez of the Miami-Dade Circuit Court is in charge of presiding over the case.
