Early on Monday, local authorities reported that a person had been burned and thrown in a shopping cart next to a bridge in Westchester County.

According to police, first responders were sent to the Oak Street Bridge area, which is on the boundary of Yonkers and Mount Vernon, at around two in the morning on Monday due to a fire.

Authorities stated that once the fire was put out, a dead corpse was found on the sidewalk, which was a horrifying discovery for police and fire personnel.

Officers from Yonkers responded to the scene and found that the deceased had been put in a shopping cart and set on fire.

Authorities were unable to verify the initial allegations that stated the body had been dissected on Monday afternoon.

It was also unclear at first what the person’s age and gender were.

The cause of death and whether the person had any more injuries will be ascertained by Yonkers police detectives and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office.
