Following a shooting earlier this week in Birmingham that left a lady dead, a man injured, and property destroyed, arrests have been made.
Asia Poole, 21, passed away, and three people are being accused in relation to her death, according to Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond. The following is a list of the suspects:
- Birmingham resident Justin Hendrix, 20, is accused of killing and attempting to kill. Because he is charged with murder, he will be kept without bond.
- Fairfield resident Taylor McCloud, 22, is accused of both murder and attempted murder. Because he is charged with murder, he will be kept without bond.
- Birmingham resident Ja’Niyah Hendrix, 19, is accused with first-degree property theft, which includes motor theft. $30k has been established as her bond.
Ariana Smith claims that her apartment walls still have seven bullet holes in them. Even though she and her kid weren’t home when the shooting happened, Poole’s passing had a profound effect on her.
“I feel like it was nothing but God who told me to go to the store three minutes before,” Smith stated.
Alisha Garrett claims she and her family are terrified since she was at Monarch Ridge when the rounds were fired.
“We all got on the floor [when we heard the shots],” Garrett stated. “Nobody has been able to rest. If we hear certain noises or open doors everybody gets scared. It’s just been too much and we’re tired, we’re tired.”

At the site, there were reportedly 168 shell casings in all. Gunfire damaged autos and apartment buildings nearby. The BPD anticipated charging more suspects in this case. At this point, the male victim who was taken from the site with injuries is not thought to be a suspect.
The BPD’s SWAT Team apprehended both Hendrix suspects, while another agency apprehended McCloud. Each and every suspect has been registered with the Jefferson County Jail. The reason for the altercation and gunshot is still a mystery.
