The death of their mother, 29, on Saturday night in Pompano Beach has left three orphans in mourning.
In addition to her two children with Omar Munguia Henrique, Brenda Hernandez also had a son with Edwin Amaya. The children saw a deliberate murder, according to deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
In the vicinity of South Cypress Road and Southwest Eighth Street, Amaya, 32, was allegedly struck twice by him on purpose while operating a white Ford F-250 pickup truck, detectives suspect.
Munguia Henrique stated in Spanish, “He was intoxicated,” and that prior to converting the pickup into a weapon, he had threatened to shoot everybody.
A neighbor who is a witness provided a video that BSO detectives are using as evidence in the case. Hernandez was transported by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue to Broward Health North, where she passed away.
Amaya was taken into custody by officers on South Dixie Highway, and on Sunday morning, he was booked by correctional deputies at the main Fort Lauderdale jail.
