Suspect Escapes Police, Leads Dramatic Chase Through Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – According to authorities, during a narcotics investigation, a suspect managed to escape the police and led them on a chase for several miles.

The pursuit occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. when law enforcement attempted to apprehend the individual in connection with an ongoing narcotics case. The suspect, driving a black Dodge Ram, fled the scene.

As officers approached the Dodge Ram, the suspect tried to run over the detectives and hit one of their vehicles while speeding away.

The chase continued, and at the intersection of Southwest 132nd Street and South Dixie Highway, the suspect rear-ended a white Nissan. The impact caused the Nissan to collide with a black Tesla.

The suspect’s vehicle then struck a marked Miami-Dade police cruiser before rolling over and hitting a light pole and tree in the vicinity of Southwest 128th Street and US 1.

Emergency services, including Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, responded to the scene. The adult female driver of the Nissan and the suspect were transported to nearby hospitals.

Firefighters provided medical treatment to a pregnant individual and a two-year-old child who were passengers in the Tesla at the time of the crash. Thankfully, the adult male driver of the Tesla and the police officers involved did not sustain any injuries.

Cellphone video obtained by Local 10 News captured the aftermath of the collision, showing significant damage to the Nissan and Tesla, while police conducted their investigation.

US 1 was temporarily closed in both directions near Southwest 132nd Street for several hours but was reopened around 11 p.m.

Law enforcement recovered a firearm from the suspect’s vehicle, and charges are pending. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed.

Authorities have informed Local 10 News that the individuals involved in the crash are expected to recover from their injuries.
