A Florida attorney accused of killing his father earlier this year was discovered dead in his jail cell on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the suspect’s lawyer and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon Labiner, 34, was facing a first-degree murder charge related to the July death of his father, Paul Labiner, who was also a Boca Raton attorney.

According to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, the younger Labiner “died by apparent suicide by hanging himself in the jail,” as reported by the Sun Sentinel.

In April, Brandon Labiner’s law license had been suspended by the Florida Supreme Court after his father filed a lawsuit accusing him of embezzling $450,000 from his stepmother’s trust fund account.

Three months later, Paul Labiner was found shot in the head, upper chest, and twice in the lower body outside his law practice.

Brandon Labiner was indicted for the murder in October and was scheduled to appear in court later this month.
