Prosecutors released a criminal case against the alleged mastermind more than a year after a 14-year-old kid was accused of shooting and killing a man in Pennsylvania.

In an attempted murder case where the prosecution claims drugs played a part and “revenge” was the driving force, 38-year-old Calvin Jay Huffman is accused of paying 14-year-old Antonyo Owens to kill 38-year-old Anthony Jones.

At a press conference that CBS Pittsburgh covered, Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele stated, “We are alleging that at the time of Anthony Jones’ murder, Huffman was in a dispute with the victim over narcotics and paid Owens a significant amount of money and drugs to exact Huffman’s revenge against the victim.”

“We will be filing a notice of aggravating circumstances against the Defendant, and if he is convicted, we will be seeking the death penalty,” the prosecution added.

The Observer Reporter claims that authorities assert Huffman handed the adolescent three large packages of marijuana along with $5,000 in cash.

As stated by the authorities, on June 6, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Owens shot and killed Jones in the vicinity of the Cavalry Methodist Church in Uniontown. Five days later, authorities took the teenager into custody.

Prosecutors now claim that Huffman paid other persons with cash and narcotics to keep Owens hidden from the authorities.

The teenager is accused of criminal homicide and is being prosecuted as an adult.

In March 2024, an unidentified individual came forward with digital evidence that investigators said demonstrated Owens had been paid in cash and narcotics to carry out the murder. DA According to Aubele, further evidence was utilised by the troopers, such as geolocation, cell phone data, and witness testimony.

It didn’t take long for investigators to locate Huffman. Since April, he has been detained at the Bedford County Correctional Facility on suspicion of abducting a Good Samaritan who intervened to assist after Huffman’s car crashed.

Authorities alleged that Huffman, who was found guilty in 2011 of shooting a woman outside of a pub, told the good Samaritan to drive around because he did not want to go back to jail.

Authorities added that once the defendant abandoned the vehicle outside a Sheetz convenience store in Everett Borough, the driver was able to escape safely, as reported by the Observer Reporter.

Huffman, on the other hand, is accused of attacking other individuals and was subsequently charged with attacking a fellow prisoner.
