Seven organizations, including Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, attended to a situation in the open water roughly 3 to 4 miles east of the Jupiter Inlet. This involved two divers.
Also arriving at the scene at 4:20 were Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Jupiter Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard, Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and Tequesta Police Department.
During the dive, one person got separated from their boat and was in the water for a considerable amount of time, according to PBCFR.
Fortunately, another boat spotted the person floating, brought them on board, and took them back several miles to their vessel, as reported by the agency.
The second diver was also located. They were both brought to shore via the Jupiter Inlet.
One of them was taken to a nearby hospital for assessment, while the other didn’t need transportation.
“Anytime we have an incident of anybody being exposed to the elements for an extended period of time, like this person was, we want to make sure everything is OK,” PBCFR spokesperson Capt. Tom Reyes told “Dehydration or some other medical issue.”
