Annapolis Introduces 'Go!Time' On-Demand Bus Service Revolutionizes Transit

Annapolis’s bus service is undergoing a little redesign. ‘Go!Time’ is the name of this on-demand bus service, which functions similarly to Uber. Go! declared city officials.The city’s more neglected bus lines will eventually be replaced by time.

The orange and purple bus lines in Annapolis will be replaced with the on-demand Go!Time service starting on Monday, July 15.

Customers who wish to utilize the Go!Time service must download the free Transigo app, which allows them to choose pickup and drop-off locations up to.5 miles from the existing orange and purple routes.

Go!Time services a geographic zone rather than a set route, so the driver can transport people from their pickup spot to their destination without having to go the full distance.

“I guess it’s going to make it a little faster,” Robert stated. “If you catch the orange and it takes you straight to where you want to go instead of making all the other stops, it would be faster to get where you’re going.”

Go!Time uses computer mapping to determine the best route, saving time for drivers and riders both.

Shamiah, 16, travels by bus every day from Annapolis.

“It would be easier for the bus to get around traffic if it could find different ways to go instead of one certain route,” Shamiah stated.

The same passenger rates and operating hours will apply. Go! authorities stated that the most underutilized routes were the orange and purple ones.Time will be used more effectively.

Transportation director Markus Moore stated that, “Annapolis is a compact city, and we can offer more efficient service to customers by replacing underperforming fixed routes with a more flexible and responsive, on-demand service. This rollout will also function as a pilot program for expanding future on-demand options to best serve transit customers.”

For the first four weeks, in order to give consumers time to adjust to the new service, both the fixed-route and Go!Time on-demand services will operate simultaneously.
