After he was accused of shooting and killing a guy who was discovered in a car with the father’s 14-year-old daughter missing, an Arkansas parent was taken into custody.
Deputies from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office were called to the house of Aaron Spencer, 36, after he reported his daughter missing on Tuesday.
However, deputies discovered when traveling to the home that Spencer had discovered his daughter in a car with Michael Fosler, 67. After the two men got into an altercation, Spencer is said to have shot and murdered Fosler.
Spencer was taken into custody by deputies on a first-degree murder accusation, which is a Class Y felony. After being taken into custody and making bond, he was released from the Lonoke County Detention Center the next day.
Spencer has not yet been legally charged, according to Sheriff John Staley, who made this announcement in a Facebook video. The District Attorney’s Office will determine which charges to bring.
“This is a tragic situation and my thoughts and prayers are with all involved,” Staley stated.
Heather, Spencer’s wife, said on Facebook that Fosler was under a “no contact order” with her daughter because the 14-year-old had been stalked and sexually assaulted during the summer, and that she and her husband were afraid he would murder her.
She said that neither she nor her spouse knew Fosler was getting in touch with her kid again.
“We absolutely called 911 during the entire event,” she stated. “We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again. He was waiting 6-9 felonies for what he did, not 2. He was looking at the rest of his pathetic life in jail, and our daughter was the only witness.”
“Some things we will never know, but we know that the police department afforded this predator privacy they did not give our family,” she further added. “Including posting our home address. I’m deeply offended by the way this was handled by the county [sheriff’s] office.”
The woman continued: “At the end of the day, our daughter is a victim and we have a long road of recovery for everyone. We are so thankful for all the calls, messages and prayers.”
According to Staley, who spoke to USA TODAY, Fosler was detained by a different law enforcement agency in July and charged with sexual assault and child stalking online.
According to the sheriff, deputies are investigating the events that preceded the shooting.

In order to cover her husband’s legal bills, the mother of the kid had put up a GoFundMe. However, GoFundMe deleted the fundraising and gave the money back to the donors.
According to GoFundMe’s terms of service, fundraisers are not allowed to collect funds for the defense of any anyone who has been officially accused of a violent crime.
The woman is now taking payments on Venmo and Cash App as a result. She also expressed her gratitude to other victims who contacted her and claimed that Fosler had assaulted them.
