13-Year-Old Injured as Two Men Drive Onto Sidewalk in Abington Township

Friday afternoon in Abington Township, two males from Philadelphia were taken into custody by police after they crashed into a 13-year-old girl while driving carelessly up onto the sidewalk.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., two individuals who were speeding through the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue ran a red light and collided with another car that had the right-of-way, according to Abington Township police.

The two males in the automobile, Jason MacDonald, 21, and Goldwin Prince, 21, from Philadelphia, were recognized by the police.

Following the first collision, MacDonald pulled onto the sidewalk, where he struck a 13-year-old girl who was standing close by and spoke with a crossing guard, according to the police. According to authorities, the 13-year-old had just been assisted by a crossing guard across the street when she was struck.

According to the police, MacDonald and Prince then leaped from the vehicle and began to flee before being apprehended and arrested by Abington police officers.

Police say MacDonald will face charges for driving recklessly, aggravated assault, and running from an accident. When Prince was caught, according to the police, he had a handgun that he did not have legal ownership of. He will face charges related to both marijuana possession and unlawful gun ownership.

The 13-year-old was struck by the car, receiving medical attention at Abington Jefferson Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision is currently being looked into by Abington police.
