Birmingham Police Announce Arrest in Fatal Shooting Case Suspect in Custody

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — An arrest has been made in relation to a shooting incident in Birmingham last week, which resulted in the death of a man and the injury of a woman.

The Birmingham Police Department has announced that Courtney Darnell Dennis, a 30-year-old individual, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle in connection to the incident.

The shooting took place on Tuesday, June 20, in the 900 Block of 25th Street Southwest, where Jarvis Conley Jr. was fatally shot.

The injured woman was promptly transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for a severe gunshot wound.

According to the police, Dennis voluntarily surrendered himself at Birmingham Police Headquarters on Monday.

He has since been incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail, with a bond set at $80,000 for one charge and no bond for another.
