WPBN: Following an alleged horrifying home circumcision using a “utility tool,” which, predictably, “did not go as planned,” a Missouri couple was charged with felonies.
According to court filings, Tyler Wade Gibson used the utility tool to carry out the horrifying operation on the evening of November 27 after honing the blade, setting down pads, and saying a blessing.
According to the records, Gibson, who has no medical training, said that he had done his own research before performing the do-it-yourself surgery, which “did not go as planned.”
Gibson was reportedly caught off guard when the youngster, whose name and age were removed from the court documents, started to bleed heavily and was transferred to Lake Regional Hospital, a nearby medical facility.
Following that, the boy was taken to University Hospital, where a urologist treated him and he was admitted, according to the charging paperwork.
According to the court filings, Gibson left the hospital “against medical advice.”
After a University Hospital employee reported the occurrence via an emergency hotline, the Department of Social Services alerted police on Thanksgiving Day about “a child who had undergone a circumcision at home.”
Gibson was accused of two felonies: child abuse and unlicensed medical practice. The maximum prison term for each count is seven years.
Local media outlets said that Gibson’s wife, Bailey Alexus Gibson, was also charged with criminal child abuse. It’s unknown if the pair has legal counsel.

Gibson claimed to have left the utility tool he used to do the procedure in his room “on top of a frame,” but according to court filings, investigators were unable to locate it. A deputy did indicate that, while searching the house, they found an open box of gauze on Gibson’s bed.
