Following their contentious exclusion from the Paris tournament, one Olympian competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics is speaking out. Ana Carolina Vieira, a 22-year-old Brazilian swimmer, is offering her viewpoint after being ordered to leave the grounds in Paris due to an unapproved departure at the Olympic Village.
“My things are there [in the Olympic Village], I went to the airport in shorts,” Vieira said, according to the Daily Mail. “I had to open my suitcase at the airport. I’m in Portugal, I’m going to Recife and then to SĂŁo Paulo.”
“I am helpless, I have had no access to anything, I have not been able to speak to anyone. They told me to contact the COB channels. But how am I going to get in touch?”
In addition, Vieira said that she is trying to handle the situation with her legal team with “peace of mind.”

The Brazilian Olympic Committee subsequently questioned Vieira on her actions the previous evening, but the swimmer allegedly agitated the officials and was “disrespectful and aggressively challenging” to the extent that they demanded that she leave Paris completely. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Vieira behaved in a “disrespectful and aggressive manner,” according to the Committee.
Still, Da Silva Santos was not removed; rather, he was merely issued a warning.Despite being far shorter than her initial attempt, Vieira participated in the 4Ă—100-meter freestyle relay in Tokyo, making the 2024 Games her second career competition.
