The NFL said on Tuesday that linebacker Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills has been suspended without pay for four games due to his violation of the personal conduct rules.

The NFL noted in a statement released by Buffalo, “Miller will be eligible for reinstatement on October 28 following the Bills’ Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.”

The suspension was reportedly triggered by a domestic conflict that occurred in Texas in 2023, however the league would not provide further details.

Miller was charged with beating his pregnant fiancée, according to an arrest warrant affidavit from the Dallas Police Department from the previous year. Following a verbal altercation, the alleged victim informed police that Miller gave her the order to leave their Dallas residence.

Miller “walked up to her and began to shove and push her, all while telling her to leave the unit,” according to the complaint, as she was gathering personal belongings to depart.

She informed officers as well. Miller wrapped his hand around her neck twice, “putting pressure” on her neck even though she was still breathing. The woman allegedly threatened to call the police, at which point Miller apparently left the residence.

An officer “saw minor abrasions on the Complainant’s left hand along with bruising to her neck, injuries consistent with applied pressure to the neck,” according to the police report. Later, her left arm and abdomen were also discovered to have bruises.

Miller, a native of DeSoto, Texas, was in his home state on November 29, 2023, when police were called to the alleged incident while the Bills were on bye.

Miller turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department and was freed on $5,000 bond. Miller claimed at the time that the claims of domestic abuse against him were “blown out of proportion” and “100% false.”

When Miller’s girlfriend received the text in late 2023, according to WFAA, she allegedly responded, “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!” She described what happened as “a verbal disagreement” and “a huge misunderstanding.”

According to the AP, Miller, 35, stated in July that he intended to “just move forward and focus solely on football” and that no charges had been brought against him.

Since his arrest, Miller has remained a member of the Bills’ roster, participating in all four of the team’s games thus far this year. In 2022, the two-time Super Bowl winner and one of the most formidable pass rushers in the NFL of the past ten years agreed to a six-year, $120 million deal with the Bills.
