Capitol Chaos: Mississippi Representative Accused of Assaulting Woman

A congressman from Mississippi is the target of accusations made by a member of the anti-war organization CODEPINK.

Sumer Mobarak reported that on Tuesday, May 7, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., she was beaten by Rep. Mike Ezell (R-Miss.).

CODEPINK members were shown in a video pleading with Ezell to assist in putting an end to the murders in Palestine. According to the organization, Ezell slammed Mobarak’s phone away during the dispute. Mobarak is an American Palestinian. Mobarak added that she had reported the member to Capitol police for assault.

“It is imperative to note that the violence Representative Ezell committed, as well as the violence we are witnessing on college campus, solely comes from those who support the ongoing genocide. Their violence and crimes reflect that of the Israeli government, and the whole world is witnessing it,” Melissa Garriga, CODEPINK’s media relations manager stated.

Protests against Israel’s conflict with Hamas have taken place on college campuses around the United States, including the University of Mississippi.

Ezell stated in a statement regarding the incident,”These China-backed protesters want to harass and intimidate Members of Congress into ending our support for Israel and our opposition to Hamas terrorists. I will not be harassed or intimidated by the Chinese Communist Party, Hamas, or their supporters, and I will continue standing with our Israeli allies against terrorism.”
