Many organizations in Connecticut have prepared free dinners for those in need as Thanksgiving approaches. A list of locations in the state where people can get free Thanksgiving meals can be seen below:
Wednesday, Nov. 27
Wilson-Gray YMCA – 444 Albany Ave., Hartford:
As part of the 13th annual Thanksgiving feast, Hartford students and families will be able to get a meal and coat handout from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are to-go boxes available.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Matthew Lawrence will be present to assist in distributing coats to those in need. Darlene can be reached at [email protected] if you have any queries. All sizes of coat contributions are welcome.
Thursday, Nov. 28
Meriden YMCA – 110 West Main St., Meriden
Starting at 11:30 a.m., Christmas dinners can be picked up at the Y or delivered to people who can’t leave their homes to pick them up. First come, first served for meals. Those who want to pick up or have a delivery should give 203-235-6386 a call in advance.
Salvation Army – 661 Main St., Manchester
There will be a sit-down dinner from 12 to 1 p.m. The public is welcome to attend, and registration is not required.
90 Main St., New Britain
The Black Ministers Alliance of New Britain, the New Britain Police Department, the City of New Britain Fire Department, Central Connecticut State University, EC Goodwin Technical High School, and New Britain High School will collaborate to provide sit-down meals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Grace Episcopal Church – 336 Main St., Old Saybrook:
The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner from 1-2 p.m. and is open to everyone. Here is a list of various pantries and where they are open each day of the week.
Cornerstone Community Kitchen – 15 Prospect St., Vernon
The Gap2Gap Baseball and Softball Organization, Vernon Center Middle School, Tolland Lions Club, Little Scribbles Child Care, Maple Street School, St. Joseph Church, and others are hosting a Thanksgiving luncheon from 2-4 p.m.
