A 34-year-old woman has been apprehended in Central Florida for a traffic homicide that claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman, a situation described by the Sheriff as “disappointing and heartbreaking.”
The arrest was made by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation into a fatal traffic incident on December 19, 2023, along Harney Road in Thonotosassa, near Tampa.
Deputies responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Harney Road and Williams Road at 8:45 pm that day, discovering a woman lying on the roadway.
Despite attempts to save her, 30-year-old Sabrina Rohrback was pronounced dead at the scene. Rohrback had been walking on the paved shoulder of Harney Road when a driver, identified as 34-year-old Tamra Warden, veered off the road, onto the dirt, and fatally struck her.
Tamra Warden was arrested on February 5th and faces charges of DUI Manslaughter, Child Neglect, and DUI Accompanied by Person Under 18. Warden had a three-year-old in the vehicle with her and had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.14, exceeding the legal limit by more than 0.06.
“This case is disappointing and heartbreaking on so many levels,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister stated. “An innocent woman was killed because of someone’s recklessness, and a three-year-old could have been seriously injured. I am proud of the thorough investigation conducted by our detectives and hope that this arrest can bring some source of healing to the family impacted by this tragedy.”
Sheriff Chronister stressed the significance of assigning a sober driver, utilizing taxi or ride-sharing services, and creating a plan before consuming alcohol. Local law enforcement confirms that the investigation is still ongoing.
