After a police chase in Stanislaus County on Friday morning, authorities confirmed on Sunday that a guy from Southern California had been taken into custody.

About 5:15 a.m., a Ceres police officer came upon an inhabited stolen car close to E. Hatch Road and Mitchell Road. A pursuit began in and around the Ceres region after the suspect fled when the officer attempted to pull them over.

The police attempted a PIT maneuver in the Turlock area while the pursuit continued, but the driver was able to take back control of the car.

In an effort to flee, the suspect—later identified as Stockton resident Chhay Hisocanphaktra, 41—allegedly crashed into the front end of a patrol car.

After the police disabled the car, Hisocanphaktra was brought into custody.
