According to police and her family, a Chicago woman who went to Paradise Island for a yoga retreat was reported missing, and authorities in the Bahamas were looking for her.

Taylor Casey, 41, was last seen on Wednesday at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas, according to a statement sent by family members on Monday.

According to her family, the Royal Bahamas Police Force sent out a missing persons flyer two days later asking for information on her location.

According to the flyer, she was last seen that day at Paradise Island, which is connected to Nassau by bridge.

In a family statement, Taylor’s mother, Colette Seymore, stated, “We are deeply concerned for Taylor’s safety and well-being. I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return.”

“Taylor would never disappear like this,” she continued.

By email, the creators of the Facebook group dedicated to finding Taylor Casey described her as “a cherished friend, daughter, aunt, and beloved community member.”

Casey’s family reported that she has been practicing yoga for 15 years and is well-known for her “vibrant and loving personality” in Chicago.

According to the family, she had long wished to increase her understanding of and proficiency in the field, and she saw the trip to the Bahamas as a step in that direction.

According to the statement, Seymore was going to the Bahamas in order to work with law enforcement.

Casey is characterized as a 5 feet, 10 inch Black American with fair skin, narrow features, and naturally occurring, frequently covered hair.

The woman’s family is hoping that someone will come forward with information concerning her location.

A request for comment on Monday was not immediately answered by Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas. It is a part of a worldwide network of Sivananda Yoga centers that offers retreats in California, New York State, France, India, and Austria.

In a Goop article, Gwyneth Paltrow called the Paradise Island yoga retreat “otherworldly” and mentioned that it is “flanked by dense tropical gardens and white-sand beaches.”

Amid a wave of homicides, robberies, and gang-related crimes in Nassau in January, the U.S. State Department raised its travel advisory level to Level 2, advising Americans to “exercise increased caution.”

Visitors from the United States were advised to “keep a low profile.”
