Cold Weather Alert Arctic Front to Overwhelm North Texas Weekend Events

Considering that temperatures in North Texas are forecast to drop below freezing beginning on Saturday, there are concerns regarding the impact that this will have on a packed weekend of major events, including the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as well as the Martin Luther King Jr. parades.

In Fort Worth, the message is unmistakable: “Saddle up and bundle up” in preparation for the chilly weather that is expected to arrive this weekend.

Matt Brockman, who works with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, stated that the organization is prepared to enter the stock show regardless of what Mother Nature may bring.

Brockman stated that their event takes place at this time of year every year, and that participants should be prepared for temperatures that are below freezing.

“We know what we need to do at times when those temps drop down around freezing. So, layer up, everything’s in place here,” Brockman stated.

It was said by Brockman that the majority of the FWSSR competitions take place inside and in indoor arenas.

In addition, the city, in collaboration with the FWSSR, spent forty million dollars to renovate its Will Rogers Memorial Center. The center now features brand-new swine stables and arenas that are outfitted with cutting-edge heating systems to ensure the safety and comfort of both people and cattle.

The Rodeo’s All Western procession is still scheduled to take place downtown on Saturday morning, according to the organizers, despite the fact that the lowest temperatures of the year are expected to arrive on Monday, which is conveniently located in the heart of Martin Luther King Day.

“No one can predict God to weather, not even myself,” Fort Worth MLK Parade chair, Krista Daniels stated.

Daniels gives her group the assurance that they are already working with the city of Fort Worth to determine whether or not the parade should be held inside the convention center or whether it should be rescheduled. But she stated that the celebration of its 40th anniversary will not be affected by the weather.

“People from Dallas, Arlington, Everman, Crowley, Denton; they’re all signing up to come. They’re wanting to be a part of this. So, I’m asking God to please, please don’t let the weather stop it,” Daniels stated.

In addition, Daniels stated that the celebration of the 40th anniversary will feature an increased number of floats and entertainment, and the FWSSR stated that it will be introducing new bull riding events this year.
