Culinary Excellence: Connecticut Eatery Earns Spot on 'America's Best Restaurants'

This summer, America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) will be paying a special visit to a fast-casual, genuine Greek restaurant.

On June 6, the ABR Roadshow is scheduled to film in Freskos.

The goal of the televised roadshow is to raise awareness of locally owned, independently operated eateries around the nation. When interviewing the proprietors, it usually features the most well-liked dishes from the eateries.

Owner of Freskos Peter Vouras told the roadshow that he wants to include his family’s history in their program.

“Both my grandfathers owned restaurants,” Vouras stated to roadshow producers. “I would like to stress the family history. People like that story. We use my grandmother’s recipe for the avgolemono soup.”

The restaurant, which debuted in 2016, is well-known for its Greek salad, classic gyro, chicken souvlaki wrap, and Greek fries with feta cheese and lemon flavor on top.

They also have filled grape leaves, saganaki, and pita and hummus on their menu. They also serve Greek coffee and traditional delicacies.

Vouras expressed his excitement about being on the program as a means of reaching more individuals searching for fresh, healthful alternatives to “fast food.”

The restaurant’s Facebook page and the America’s Best Restaurants website will also announce the day of the episode premiere.
