A woman from Idaho is coming forward after learning that the man she went on a blind date with had admitted to being wanted for murder in Texas.
The startled woman claimed that her brother, Eddie, had introduced her to the man. Janey Voyek said a local news station, “My brother saw him on the side of the road, a veteran looking for help.” According to the woman, her brother even offered the man a job.
Voyek claims that last Thursday was the day she met James Coolack. Voyek remarked, “He’s so charismatic and so charming and can tell you the right things you want to hear.”
Things changed on Saturday, though, when Voyek claimed that his genuine identity was exposed and the endearing mask fell.
“He just kind of got mad and crazy, and just bluntly told me that he had murdered his brother two years ago,” Voyek stated.
The woman went on to say that she believed Coolack was intoxicated at the moment. Voyek hung up the phone, horrified by the confession, and promptly contacted her brother, who also received the same confession from the man.
“Eddie kicked him out of the house and his stuff, and contacted the police,” Voyek stated.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office subsequently reported that one of its deputies had found Coolack just outside of Pomeroy and taken into custody, the station reported. After more investigation, it was discovered that the man’s true name was Kevin and that he did, in fact, have an active murder warrant.
While awaiting extradition back to Houston, Coolack is being detained in the Carroll County jail. According to the authorities, Coolack killed his brother by shooting him in 2022. After he was captured, there was a sense of finality in this case, according to a statement from Houston Police Department Sgt. Cullen Duncan. “I did believe that it was only a matter of time before he was apprehended.”
“I’m just happy to help them get the closure and they rest at ease that now Kyle is locked up and nobody else is in danger,” Voyek continued.
The woman, who is apparently still upset over the incident, claims that the whole ordeal has taught her an important lesson.

“Just be careful what you do and who you talk to, and don’t rush to let somebody in your home,” she stated.
Voyek stated that she was not very invested in the relationship and that she was happy the truth had surfaced when it did.
“Would he have beat me? Would he have tried anything with me and essentially killed me?” Voyek questioned. “And there are times that I wonder if it could have went there.”
