With temperatures expected to fall in numerous Midwestern states on Sunday, freeze warnings have been issued. Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are among the nine states for which there are warnings.
In those states, temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing, according to the National Weather Service’s most recent forecast.
“Lows into the 20s and 30s this morning are likely to lead to frost/freeze concerns throughout the Midwest and parts of the Ohio Valley,” the forecast stated. “Chilly morning temperatures are also expected to linger on Monday, before cool weather erodes to the Northeast on Tuesday with portions of the Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast waking up to frosty temperatures in the 30s.”
Forecasters have issued a warning that the weather might destroy vulnerable plants, including crops, and possibly harm outdoor plumbing that isn’t covered.
It is recommended that people take precautions to shield plants from the cold. To stop outdoor water pipes from exploding, they should be wrapped, emptied, or let to drip gently.
