Kenneth Crider has been located and taken into custody in North Carolina. Crider is the person who is suspected of robbing 87-year-old Willard Martz of his automobile while Lucky, Martz’s dog, was still inside.
According to Captain Robert Bowen of the sheriff’s office, Crider led authorities on a chase before being captured by investigators from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
No Lucky could be located. Crider allegedly told investigators that he released Lucky “at an unknown rest stop between Myrtle Beach and Nash County.”
Crider was initially seen by detectives in Dortches, North Carolina, on Octavia Drive. Captain Bowen claims that during the pursuit, Crider fled north of 100 to 120 miles per hour down Interstate 95.
Crider was apprehended by police during the execution of a PIT maneuver. He is currently being charged with multiple crimes.
The hunt for Lucky
Since Martz’s keys were taken from his pants pocket on September 23 while he was at Tractor Supply in East Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, the search for Lucky, a 10-year-old Airedale-terrier mix, has persisted.
According to investigators, the suspect got into Martz’s car and left with Lucky still inside.
Later, images of Crider were made public by the Pennsylvania State Police. CCTV footage from the Dunbar Township Walmart also showed Crider pulling into a parking spot and removing Lucky from the car to use the restroom, approximately an hour after the incident.
