Late on Monday night, a mother and her 2-year-old boy were shot in Boston. Around 11:40 p.m., police were summoned to the intersection of Stratton and Ames streets in Dorchester. There, they discovered the lady and the kid in a driveway with gunshot wounds.

The 24-year-old mother sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while her 2-year-old son sustained a head wound. They were flown to two distinct medical facilities.

Police spent a large portion of the night looking for evidence across the area, but no one has been arrested.

Grandma promises to pray for the gunman

After visiting a friend’s house, Fatima Depina Ortiz said that her daughter and her infant grandson were shot while outside their Dorchester driveway. She stated that she believes her two family members will live.

“Now my daughter is OK. My grandson doing well. I believe in God. I believe in justice, so thank you everybody for praying for my family,” Depina Ortiz stated. She expressed forgiveness to the gunman. “Love him. I’m going to pray for him.”

Neighbors who say the neighborhood is full of kids were shocked by the crime.

A neighbor reported hearing a “boom, boom, boom” in tandem with the gunfire. “This is the first time that something like this has happened, so it makes me very anxious because my brother literally goes to school right across the park right there,” he stated.

According to a different neighbor, they think their Ring camera turned off during the incident.
