Downtown Jacksonville in Mourning After Woman's Life Taken in Hit-and-Run

According to information provided by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a hit-and-run accident that took place on Saturday evening in Downtown Jacksonville near the intersection of Kings Road and North Davis Street resulted in the death of a female victim.

At around 10:45 p.m., a dark blue 4-door vehicle was moving westbound on Kings Road while an unidentified woman was attempting to cross the street heading in a northern direction.

Sergeant Hungerford of the JSO says the incident occurred when the woman was crossing the street.

Next, Hungerford reports that the car that had struck the woman fled the area without giving any assistance to her after the collision.

According to the reports of the police, members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department came to the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she eventually succumbed to her injuries and died.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) reports that this hit-and-run accident was the 134th fatal traffic accident to occur in Duval County in 2018.
